Dr. Horatio Oduber Hospital
A General Hospital and a level III trauma center, Dr. Horatio Oduber Hospital is located near Eagle Beach and is only five minutes from the Palm Beach hotel area. It is the only hospital on the island and has a multi-lingual staff. All normal diagnostic and treatment facilities are available including an emergency room, walk-in clinic and five operating rooms. Doctors and the hospital will require payment at the time of service and most health plans are not accepted. You may pay in cash or with credit cards and in many cases you may submit a claim to your health insurance at home.

IMSAN is a medical center equipped with a reputable medical staff and modern equipment. Consulting hours for general practitioners are Monday to Friday 8am to 12pm and 3pm to 5pm. Emergency assistance is available 24 hours, seven days a week.
For on-site medical care, the Medical Mobile Team can be reached by calling 584-0500. This service, provided by registered doctors specifically for tourists in the hotel area, includes medical consult, treatment and prescriptions. If an ambulance is required, the medical mobile team can make arrangements and treat the patient until the ambulance arrives. This service is for such ailments as falls, sprains, abrasions, lacerations, burns, ear infections, tonsillitis, urinary tract infections, ear infections, and insect bites, eliminating waiting time in the hospital or a physician's office. For life-threatening emergencies, call 911.
IMSAN also has a diabetic center which consists of a nurse, dietitian, podiatrist, needing no referral of a doctor.

Emcare operates a clinic located on the property of Playa Linda, providing 24/7 care for tourists by qualified nurses and physicians. In case of emergency, the patient will be referred to the local emergency room or for advanced medical care. Various hotels and timeshare resorts work on a contractual basis with Emcare. Physicians are available for house calls and to prescribe medication. Medical consulting, prescriptions, pharmacy services, laboratory services and patient transport can be arranged. Patients can be seen at the clinic as well.
NOTE: Your U.S. medical insurance is not accepted in Aruba.
Medical Equipment Rental
Medical equipment rental service is available from Labco Medical and Homecare Service N.V. 24-Hour service is available. The company is affiliated with the American Home Healthcare Association as well as the National Oxygen Travel Services of America. Call for information. It is advisable to make reservations in advance. Service is available 24-hours a day with free delivery to your hotel.

Pharmacies (Boticas) will not fill a foreign prescription but will assist you in making arrangments with a local doctor if necessary. Boticas also carry the usual over-the-counter medications and additionally there is always one drug store open 24 hours on a rotating schedule for emergency situations.

Visitors with Disabilities
Visitors with disabilities don't have to worry about a thing. All handicapped travelers are accommodated and welcome. Facilities in Aruba meet all standards. Most hotels in Aruba have handicap accessible wheelchair friendly rooms. Personal assistance animals are permitted if accompanied by a health certificate reflecting recent rabies innoculations.
Medical Services at the Airport
Queen Beatrix International Airport is friendly to all travelers with a major or minor disabilities and is wheelchair friendly. The airport meets all standards set forth by the ADA (American Disabilities Act) including restrooms, holding rooms, ticketing and check-in areas and food service areas. Attendants are always available with wheelchairs. There is also a fully equipped medical facility with highly trained professionals. Arrangements can be made through this facility for special needs upon arrival and/or departure as well as emergency treatment while at the airport. Personnel are also permitted aboard aircraft in emergencies and for evaluation.
