Things you need to know to ensure your Aruba visit is enjoyable and all you want it to be. Included here is information about Entry and Customs Regulations, Driving, Traffic Signs used on the Island, Health Care, Money, Staying in Touch and Island Transportation.

Rental cars, taxis, buses, and personal automobiles are the most common methods of travel in Aruba. The majority of the roads are paved, but towards the interior of the island you will encounter unpaved roads. With a total of about 500 miles (800 km) of road, about 180 miles (287 km) are unpaved.

The most econnomical option for your island transportation is "Arubus". The busses won't take you out on the back roads of the island but will transport you efficiently between Oranjestad, San Nicolas, Palm Beach and most major beaches and the hotel areas. Bus stops regularly serviced by Arubus are also located just outside the airport. There is daily bus service all along the hotel strip. Fare is US $2.60. There is bus service every 15 minutes from 5:45 am until 6 pm; buses then run every 40 minutes until 11:30 pm. The central bus station in downtown Oranjestad is located across the road from the cruise terminal next to Royal Plaza. For up-to-date information please see Arubus Information

There is an abundance of international and local car rental companies but only 10 of them operate from the airport. Others have a shuttle service between their office and the airport.

Information about public parking at the airport may be found Here

To enhance the parking experience in several busy areas in Oranjestad, paid parking has recently been implemented as a solution to the lack of available parking spaces. The paid parking spaces are centralized around the Caya Betico Croes, also known as the Mainstreet, and made visible by white registration numbers. The yellow lined parking spaces are for employees only and are not available for regular parking.
